Concert: Sharqī and some Ṣabā

Sharqī (My Orient), the first album by Ghassan Sahhab, includes 8 tracks in 3 Waṣla-s (suites) in ḥijāz, rāst, and bayātī maqām-s (modes). Pieces from the album, that was produced by Me'zaf initiative with the support of AFAC, and new tunes will be performed during the concert. The album will be available for sale after the performance

The band: O‘ūd: Imad Hashisho, Violin: Khalil El Baba, Cello: Tony Hawat, Percussion: Ali Hout, Qānūn and composition: Ghassan Sahhab

Conducted by Ghassan Sahhab and Sharqi Music Ensemble, a workshop about Authentic Levantine Music will precede the concert at 3pm.The workshop will tackle the musical practice of the middle eastern music and will focus on the modal and rhythmic Middle Eastern musical systems. Musicians and/or singers from LAU community are welcome to participate by reserving with Ms. Hala Masri: hmasri@lau.edu.lb
